Halloween Fun At the Novi Benefit

We attended the Novi Wolf benefit on Sunday. It was a great turnout, tons of money was raised ($15K!) and much fun was had (though we missed seeing Novi in person as we had to exit for naptime - the time change has us very screwed up).

Schuyler LOVED the bouncy house
Schuyler in her kitty costume, tail and all.

Bouncing with the big kids.

The only way to get Schuyler out of there was to crawl in and get her. There were big tears after that, but soon she recovered and had fun with Sophia in the pumpkin patch.

Schuyler and Pep

Here are our two girls....this is a pretty typical scene, Pepper hanging out in Schuyler's bean bag chair. They are quite a pair. Though it was a rocky road getting here -- Pepper was VERY upset when we brought Schuyler home from the hospital (she was an only child for a long time!!!). It was a long period of adjustment. Luckily, they've really come to love each other. Pepper provides Schuyler with endless entertainment, and Schuyler provides Pepper with an endless supply of food from her high chair!

Novi Wolf Benefit October 28 in Barnstable Village

Katie Jansson is a friend from high school; her infant daughter Novi is currently undergoing treatment (chemo) for a brain tumor. There's going to be a benefit to help Novi and her family this Saturday, October 28th from 12-3 in Barnstable Village. There is going to be an auction, raffle, food, a costume party, and lots more. If you can attend, donate, volunteer, help spread the word...anything at all to help support the Jansson/Boyer Family, please do so... and keep little Novi in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery. Be sure to go to http://noviwolf.blogspot.com for more details, including a list of raffle items and more specifics about the event.

Best Friends

We saw the Webbs last night; Rich is working on a logo for their new breakfast/lunch restaurant. We are very excited for them! Schuyler and Sophia were particularly happy to see each other, as you can see. (Got to love Schuyler's hot pink leopard top - very 80s David Lee Roth...she rocks it!)

Docks out at HYC/ Dress-up

Our big adventure this weekend was watching Rich and Grandpa help take the docks out at HYC. This involves a big crane, many men (and one woman) running around in hard hats and waders, and a hot dog lunch. Lots to see!

Daddy all dressed up for the project.

Checking out the scene with Grandpa.

Faceoff with a seagull.

As I prepared this entry, Schuyler busted out of her room in this special outfit -- kind of funny!

Girls night out

Schuyler and I hit The Island Merchant last night for "one and run" as Grandpa likes to say! Rich was in Boston for drinks with some of his coworkers, so it was just us girls. Michael plays piano on Thursday nights, and we were lucky enough to see Howard and Judy, as well as both Bev and Joe. Schuyler was on extra good (and extra cute) behavior, despite the fact that it was nearing bedtime. She kept yelling for "Joe!!!!!" She gave Aunty Ju-Ju some very nice hugs and kisses, and Michael let her play piano with him for a bit. It was nice to get out, especially with Schuyler on good behavior.

Here she is this morning, holding Michael's promo flyer (drawn by Rich). She's still calling for Joe this morning...

Shopping cart

Here we are with another milestone, Schuyler riding in the car shopping cart at BJs. I am not the hugest fan of BJs, I find it somewhat overwhelming, but it is the best place for diapers (crazy to seek these sorts of things out, but that's how it goes with babies -- thanks mom for always loaning me the membership card). Speaking of which, last week brought Schuyler's first ever pee on the potty which was very exciting for the whole family! Probably too much information...but we are proud.

Fall is here

It is really starting to feel like fall. This weekend the mast came off the boat and the dinghy came out of the water, we raked leaves, Rich made fish chowder, we had our first fire of the season, and we saw hundreds of pumpkins at a sale in West Yarmouth (funny; in all the pics she is looking to her right, down the hill at all the rest of the pumpkins -- or at the traffic on Route 28!). We also made it to the BWB playground and Schuyler showed us what a big girl she is, going on the slide by herself and swinging on the swings by herself.

Trucks

The water department is doing some upgrades along route 6A and the trucks used for the job are parked on our street right now when not in use. We decided to get a closer look yesterday.
First we needed to check the mailbox....(Thanks Sam for loaning out the dachshund purse!!)
When Schuyler sees trucks, she say "Bob Builder"!
The most exciting thing about this truck is the dog graphic, she was really into it.

Taking a rest...

Scenes from the weekend

Schuyler hangs with Bradley bear in her shockingly tidy room (it doesn't stay like this for long!)
Looking very serious...

Saturday night, Rich and I escaped for a quick pizza dinner at Jack's (including a pitcher of Bud and a game of Golden Tee!), leaving Schuyler at CP and Pop pop's house. When we returned, this was the scene we found...

Schuyler hangs with Nick and Samantha's friends...

She could have cared less that we came home; she was having a very good time with all her new friends....

Sunday was blessing of the animals at St. Mary's. Managing Schuyler and Pepper was kind of crazy, but everyone behaved (though Schuyler needed to exit through the back of the Church during the sermon, too much for her to sit through).

Then we took a walk in the gardens to visit John's spot in the Memorial Gardens, which is quite lovely and very peaceful. I think you can really feel his spirit there.

Stickers

We have been getting lots of junk mail lately for kids stuff. Highlights Magazine just sent a solicitation package containing several sheets of stickers. (I used to love getting that stuff!) Schuyler loves stickers (adhesive stamps, band-aids, address labels -- anything sticky thrills her). Here she is with her Highlights stickers, she decided to decorate her feet...

Yo baby!

Schuyler eats pretty much the same foods the rest of us do...baby food is a thing of the past. Except for the Yo Baby yogurt (and if she ever gets the chance to eat those gerber puffs! loves those, too). She thoroughly enjoyed her Yo Baby this morning, as you can see. She's also going through an anti-high chair phase, and is favoring her booster seat, which is actually fine by me, nice to have her join us at the table.

Pumpkin time

GJ and Schuyler went shopping for a Halloween pumpkin today. Schuyler loves her outings with GJ (Grandma Joanne). They also go to music class together.

Grampy's visit

Grampy visited us for the weekend and we had a great time despite a pretty rainy Sunday. Schuyler loved hanging with "the other Schuyler" (Grampy John Schuyler). Here are some pics from the weekend.

Boat ride on Saturday with the whole Harris clan.

Pretty sky...
Grampy told Schuyler all about Mr. Hanky...and she told him all about Harry the Dirty Dog...

Schuyler pushed our heads together for a goodbye kiss.
